I’ve always been drawn to black and white photography for it’s simplicity, it’s pure form and timeless feel. Without the distraction of colour, the focus shifts to light, texture and the subject, it allows the moment itself to take centre stage.

The Last Furnace - Stories Forged in Fire

Within a labyrinth of arched caverns known as “Hans” hidden in the ancient city of Istanbul, I spent time with Cemal, a fourth generation metal worker and the last remaining craftsman. I was there by arrangement and this assignment truly documented his last cast and the last of a tradition as old as civilisation itself. Honoured to have been there to document the last cast, the last furnace, it was like a window to an ancient world about to close forever.
