Photographers and tourists alike stand on the steps of the O'Connell monument to get a shot of the passing protest march against the actions of the US and Israel in Gaza. Daniel O’Connell was a political leader who campaigned for peace and justice in 19th century Ireland, his name was synonymous with non violent resistance for justice and equality and was known as the Liberator.
