Life is a journey, not a destination…

This quotation above has been Noel’s mantra throughout his life and he has truly lived by it, rather than saying why when faced with challenges or crossroads in life, preferring to ask why not.. no rule book for life being another!

About Noel McIntyre

Noel McIntyre is an award-winning visual creative artist based in Ireland, his rise to the top in the creative world has been swift. An entrepreneur by nature, Noel has left a fulfilling career in the business world behind him, after successfully launching, building and divesting many commercial ventures, he now prefers to push boundaries in the creative world.

His vision, obsessive attention to detail and eye for a brilliant composition combine to create  exquisite and memorable fine art photography.

Like many artists before him, Noel is inspired by the impact of human life on the world we live in. Some of the most iconic images of the Irish landscape such as the Neolithic monuments at Newgrange, the Bronze Age standing stone circle at Drombeg, or the megalithic passage tomb at Poulnabrone dating back 5,000 years - illustrate how a landscape and its people are inextractebly linked.

Noel is intrigued by the big and small ways in which man has literally made his mark on the environment. His photography documents street and urban scenes that are influenced or illuminated by the transient presence of people - captured fleetingly in evanescent and original moments in motion, that will never be repeated.

Noel works in black and white, appreciating the timeless quality of the imagery, and the opportunity it presents to eliminate the distractions of colour and draw the viewer into the narrative of the image. While the instrument is only as good as the artist who plays it, Noel consistently experiments with the best instruments available and currently shoots with large sensor cameras and a tried and trusted collection of exceptional prime lenses from Zeiss and Leica. This exquisite blend of science and art is evident in the images he produces, and his followers recognise these characteristics in his work.

Noel’s fine art photography work is offered for sale in limited edition, signed prints.

Also a successful filmmaker, Noel’s work has been screened and honoured at film festivals all over the world, including Hollywood, California.

In addition to Noel’s fine art photography, Noel also runs his own boutique production company specialising in corporate and commercial video production. He has been awarded the title of Irish Commercial Videographer of the Year in 2022 and 2023 consecutively by his peers. Learn more about Motion Picture Media here

Background Influences

Noel is influenced primarily by the environment around him, no matter where he is. He is a keen world traveller, relishing the differences and similarities he sees between the cities in which he shoots. He also counts amongst his influences the work of artists as diverse as Henry Cartier Besson, Caravaggio, Dorothea Lange, Nick Miners, and Eugène Atget.

In his early years, Noel was also strongly influenced by his late uncle, Tom McIntyre, a poet and playwright. Speaking in interview recently, Noel explained -

“In an interview, my uncle was once asked what advice he would give to young people wanting to get into writing, poetry, theatre or the arts. He said - “Learn to trust your dreams. Learn the language of your dreams.”

It was short, sweet, and simple - but those words profoundly inspired me at the time, and have never left me since. Visual artists are dreamers and storytellers, and the language of our dreams is our Art”.
